The Fairview High School
was built in 1897 with its first class to graduate in 1901 as a three
year high school and its last class in 1963. The 166 page book contains
a complete list or photo of all the graduates of this grand old school,
The book was gleamed from all the old Year Books, the first being
1930, and then the depression years and the paper shortage of the WW-II
years. It should bring back many old and familiar faces to everyone who
walked the hall of Fairview.

OF THE PAST, SOFT COVER - $20.00
A HISTORY OF THE
MOUNTAIN TOP AREA 2002
The first history of Mountain Top in a book form, since the five
township that make up the Mountain Top Area appeared in The History of Luzerne County 1893. A few brief articles have followed through the
years, but not until Crestwood High School teachers Robert Gaetano and
James Keiser stirred the interest of students did a history of Mountain
Top appear. For four years they did research and by the year 2000
had compiled and assembled Pieces of the Past. By this time the Mountain
Top Historical Society was chartered and held a presale sign-up for the
printing of the book. The original hard cover book sold for $ 35.00 and
did not have a second printing.
In 2007 The Historical Society made available a soft
cover copy. |

MOUNTAIN
TOP PAST AND PRESENT, SOFT COVER - $18.00
The second history of Mountain Top is told in “ Mountain
Top Past And Present”. Compiled in 2005 by Society member Joseph Kubic
and printed
in 2006. The
Past is told in a book of 148 pages with 89 photos. A in depth history
of the people and place of the Mountain Top area. Starting in the late
1800’s the first chapter is the township history as it was written in
1893, with the leading citizens of the time. In the second and third a
look at railroading in Mountain Top, with a list of the railroader who
worked for local railroads,
the
fourth chapter the history of all the church’s and cemetery in the five
townships. The fifth chapter is a 1929 ride on Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton
Railway, and much of the history of the interurban electric railway.
And the sixth and seventh chapters tell the story of Rice Township and
the Borough of Nuangola.

The Business
Directory was compiled by Society members Joseph Kubic and Leo
Brookus in 2006 and printed in 2007. A 108 page black and white book,
listing business from the 1800’s through the years to 2007 in the
Mountain Top Area, a look back, with 62 old photos of the Mountain Top
area business.

photos of the Churches, Schools, Taverns, Railroad, Stations, Factories,
Restaurants, Hotels, Fire Companies, Post- Offices, Old homes, The
Ashley Planes, Farms, Baseball Teams, Honor Rolls, Townships maps, Ice
Harvesting, and Old post-cards of Glen Summit, Lake Nuangola, Fountain
and Crystal Lakes, which date back to the late 1880’s.
